My name is Jason Selwyn (follow me on twitter @JasonSelwyn). I’m from a small town about an hour outside Boston, MA, USA. Starting in University I knew I wanted to be a marine biologist (and I was never one that wanted to study dolphins!) After graduating in Boston I moved around a bit living in The Bahamas and New Zealand always somehow tying my work into the ocean be it researching lionfish in The Bahamas to doing volunteer work studying triplefins in New Zealand.
Now I’m just starting a new chapter in my life as a Master’s student in Marine Ecology in Texas. Right now the idea is to use various genetic and biochemical tools to look at how lionfish are influencing the genetic diversity of reef fish in the Caribbean, specifically focusing my field work in Belize.
